Morning Beach Conditions

April 17, 2025

LOW rip current risk with water temperatures in the mid to to upper 50s at all beaches today!

While the risk for rip currents is low from Duck to Ocracoke, life-threatening rip currents may still be present with water temperatures that can quickly lead to hypothermia. Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which occurs around 4:30 pm today.

Remember LOW risk does not mean NO risk!

Expect sunny skies with high air temperatures in the mid 60s and northeast winds around 10 to 15 mph. Ocean water temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s with a 2 to 3 foot surf at all beaches.

Water Temperatures: Duck Pier...55. Jennettes Pier...55. Oregon Inlet Marina...60. Avon Pier...58.

Ocean Rescue staffing is at off season levels, with beaches covered by a roving patrol. If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
