Morning Beach Conditions

September 25, 2023

MODERATE rip current risk at all beaches today from Duck to Ocracoke. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the ocean. Never swim alone and always take flotation!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which occurs at 10 pm today.

Mostly sunny skies today with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and west winds at 5 to 10 mph. Wind on the northern beaches will become northerly this afternoon. Water temperatures: Duck Pier...74. Jennettes Pier..74. Oregon Inlet Marina...73. Rodanthe Pier...74. Avon Pier...77.

Ocean Rescue staffing is at off season levels. Many beaches that had lifeguard stands are now unguarded or covered by a roving patrol.

If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
