MODERATE rip current risk with cool water and air temperatures at the beaches from Duck to Hatteras Village. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water with proper thermal protection. Never swim alone and always take flotation!
Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which is around 6:00 pm today.
