Morning Beach Conditions

April 26, 2026

MODERATE rip and strong longshore current risk along with cold water temperatures that will lead to hypothermia at all ocean beaches today. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water wearing thermal protection. Never swim alone, always take flotation!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which is around 10: 30 am today.

Expect cloudy skies today with showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures in the low to mid 60s. North winds around 5 to 10 mph, increasing to around 20 mph later in the day. Surf height 3 to 5 feet. Water temperatures: Duck Pier...60. Jennettes Pier...56. Oregon Inlet Marina...63. Rodanthe Pier...59. Avon Pier...66.

Ocean Rescue staffing is at off season levels, with beaches covered by a roving patrol. If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
