Morning Beach Conditions

Update as of 1215 pm…

Based on ocean rescue agency reports of multiple rescues NWS has raised the rip current risk to HIGH making it a RED FLAG DAY for ALL AREA BEACHES from Duck to Hatteras.  Ocean conditions are producing powerful rip currents especially near Avon.  Ocean swimming is not recommended, stay out of the water!

Strongest rip currents often occur a couple hours either side of low tide, which was at 8:45 am with the next low around 10:00 pm this evening.

Expect mostly sunny today with high temperatures around 90. South winds around 5-10 mph. Surf height around 2 to 3 feet. Water temperatures: Duck Pier...71.  Jennettes Pier...80. Oregon Inlet Marina...80. Avon Pier...81.

Always swim near a lifeguard. If help is needed, know your location and call 911!
