Morning Beach Conditions
July 16, 2026
Update as of 11 am…

Based on observations and reports the NWS reduced the rip current risk to LOW north of Oregon Inlet including the ocean beaches at Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. While the risk for rip currents is low, life-threatening rip currents may still be present. Remember LOW risk does not mean NO risk!
Still a YELLOW FLAG DAY with MODERATE rip current risk at all ocean beaches south of Oregon Inlet including Pea Island, Rodanthe, Waves. Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras Village and Ocracoke. Only experienced surf swimmers who know how to escape a rip current should enter the water. Never swim alone and always take flotation!
